As a self-confessed pop-culture addict and amateur media critic, it is in my nature to make statements like "That would be on a list of my favorite movies from the '80s," but I never saw the need to assemble any such lists. Really, what's the point of cataloguing and qualifying artistic works in a competitive ranking? Then came the listmania of the late '90s and the forum of the Internet, where an opinion need only be coupled with the ability to type before it can be broadcast to the masses.
